Here are a few tips on searching for one or more items in the application. All the search pages function similarly, so use these tips throughout your work.
Searches are "AND" conditions, which means that, if you enter criteria in more than one field, the application searches for items that match ALL criteria.
The application allows wildcard searches using the asterisk (*) as the wildcard character. Basically, the wildcard means "contains." For first letter searches, you can type just the first letter or the first letter with the wildcard character (*). For example, to find all users whose last names begin with an S, you would type S or S* in the Last Name field. You may also use the wildcard in searches if you know the entry has a certain character in it, but that character is not the first one. For example, if you know the last name has a "Q" in it, you would type *Q.
Searches are not case sensitive, so you can type uppercase or lowercase letters in the fields.
Number and date searches allow the following operators: = (equal to), < (less than), > (greater than), <= (less than or equal to), and >= (greater than or equal to). Using the = (equal to) symbol is the same as simply typing a single number or date in the field. You may also search for number and date ranges by separating the two end values with a colon. For example, to search for items between June 1, 2010, and June 15, 2010, you would type 6/1/2010:6/15/2010 in the appropriate date field.
To search for multiple items in a list field, press Ctrl and click the necessary list entries. To deselect an item in a list, press Ctrl and click the entry again.
The IP address search field used on the Log Search page performs full or partial IP address searches. To search for a partial IP address, enter the first number set(s) of the address (the numbers separated by decimal points), and the results will include all IP addresses that begin with those numbers.
For security purposes, users are not permitted to type certain special characters in data fields. The following table details which characters are allowed in all text fields (except passwords):

If special characters are used in passwords, only the following are allowed: ! " # $ % & ' ( ) * + , - . / : ; = ? @ [ ] \ ^ _ ` { } | ~. If required by your FI, users must include at least one of those characters; however, even if the setting is not required, users may choose to include one or more of these special characters in the password to increase the complexity (and consequently the security) of their login credentials.
